The announcements were made on Wednesday after a State Executive Council Meeting chaired by the governor.
Prince Okey Kanu, the State Commissioner for Information and Culture, briefed newsmen on the developments. He emphasized that the governor's gesture was aimed at ensuring the continuity of education for Abia students abandoned by the previous administration. "Following Governor Alex Otti’s interest and the high premium he placed on students, the governor has graciously approved the payment of school fees of Abia students in India. He also approved the payment of school fees of 271 Abia students in Nigerian Law Schools," Kanu stated.

Additionally, the governor has secured the accreditation of 19 programs for Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU). In a related move, he has directed the state Commissioner for Lands to expedite the processing of a Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) for Frank Onyeka, an international footballer from Isuikwuato LGA, who plans to establish a football academy in the state. Onyeka, along with his wife and supported by Daati Baba Ahmed, met with the governor to discuss the academy, which is to be situated between Umuahia and Aba. Governor Otti expressed his administration's support for the project.
The state governor has appointed Njoku Ukoha Njoku as the new Chief Press Secretary, replacing Kazie Uko.

In response to questions about a potential cholera outbreak, Commissioner Kanu reassured the public that there is no cholera outbreak in the state. He noted that samples from suspected cases sent to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in Abuja returned negative.
