Salem University, Lokoja, Celebrates 41 First-Class Graduates at 2024 Convocation
Salem University, Lokoja, Kogi State, will confer degrees to 499 graduates, with 41 earning first-class honours. The convocation is set for November 29, 2024.
Salem University, Lokoja, Kogi State, is set to host its sixth convocation on Friday, November 29, 2024. A total of 499 graduates will be awarded their degrees, with 41 of them achieving first-class honours. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Alewo Akubo, announced this at a pre-convocation press briefing held on Monday, November 25, 2024, in Lokoja.
The graduating students come from the university’s seven colleges, including the College of Management and Social Sciences, College of Natural and Applied Sciences, College of Humanities, College of Education, College of Communication and Information Technology, College of Law, and the Post Graduate School.
Prof. Akubo emphasized that Salem University has consistently produced graduates who contribute positively to the development of Kogi State, Nigeria, and beyond. He also highlighted the recent accreditation of the College of Basic Health and Medical Sciences, which is set to commence operations soon.
The Vice-Chancellor appealed to critical stakeholders, including the state and federal governments, as well as philanthropists, to continue supporting the university to enhance its contributions to national development. He specifically called for more encouragement for private universities, noting that they are making significant strides in higher education in Nigeria.
