Governor Otti Sets Up Visitation Panel to Review ABSU Operations

In a bid to restore Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), to its former glory as a center of academic excellence, Governor Alex Otti has inaugurated a nine-man full Visitation Panel. The panel, charged with the task of conducting a comprehensive review of ABSU's operations, was urged by the governor to uphold fairness and objectivity throughout its assignment.
Governor Otti, speaking at the Government House in Umuahia, emphasized the importance of returning the institution to its rightful place as a leading research and educational hub in the country. He highlighted the historical significance of ABSU and expressed his commitment to ensuring its excellence.

The governor clarified that the panel's mandate is not to indict individuals but to scrutinize the institution's records and structures from 2019 to 2023. The objective is to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations that will propel ABSU towards excellence.
The appointed members of the panel were selected based on their expertise and competence, with Governor Otti urging stakeholders to cooperate fully. He assured that the recommendations put forth by the panel would be given due consideration and implemented accordingly.

In response, Professor Steve Okorodudu, appointed as the Chairman of the Visitation Panel, expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity and pledged the panel's commitment to fulfilling its mandate diligently.
The panel, which includes distinguished individuals such as Rose Nwabueze, Abiola Awosika-Fapetu, and Sonny Ajala, among others, has been given a timeline of 90 days to complete its assessment.
