Governor Zulum Offers Immediate Employment to 88 Medical Graduates to Address Manpower Gaps

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the immediate employment of 88 scholarship-sponsored medical graduates. The new employees will serve a mandatory six-year bond with the state government to address critical manpower shortages within the state’s health sector.

The announcement was made during an induction ceremony for 88 community nurses from the College of Nursing, held at the conference hall of the State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri.

Professor Abubakar Kullima, the Chief Medical Director of the Borno State Hospital Management Board, praised Governor Zulum’s deliberate and significant investment in human resources for health.

“When His Excellency asked about our major challenges, I told him it was human resources for health—the staff who run our hospitals. He promised to assist, and today we are witnessing the fulfillment of that commitment,” Kullima stated.

Kullima emphasized the significance of this opportunity, noting the graduates were given scholarships by the Governor and are now tasked with serving their communities with the necessary training and skills.

He further highlighted the health sector as a major beneficiary of Zulum’s reforms, which focus on strengthening infrastructure, human resources, and equipment.

Dr. Joseph A. Jatau, Chairman of the Borno State Hospital Management Board, echoed the commendations, urging the new graduates to demonstrate dedication to their duties and serve their communities well.
