Health Institutions Management Agency seeks collaboration with MAAUN on Research, Training

The Kano State Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) has expressed its strong desire to collaborate with Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) on Research, Training and Biomedical Waste Management.

 

The Director General of the Agency, Prof. Salisu Ahmed Ibrahim, made the request on Wednesday when he led the management staff of the agency on a courtesy visit to the Founder and Chairman Governing Council of the University, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo.

 

He said the training and capacity Building will be specifically for Staff of Hospitals, Nursing homes, Laboratories and pharmacies on Biomedical Waste management.

 

According to him, the partnership would go a long way in improving the quality of health care delivery in the state in view of the enormous contribution the University is giving to Kano State and Nigeria at large, especially in providing manpower involving clinical and laboratory services.

“As a regulatory body charged with the responsibility of registration,

 

supervision and regulating the activity of all private clinics, hospitals, laboratories, gyms and fitness centres, traditional medicine practice and other alternative medicine practices in Kano state, it’s our hope the collaboration will yield the desired results,” the DG added.

Responding, the Founder of the University, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo said the University is ready to partner with any institution or organization that would strengthen the healthcare delivery system not only in Kano State, but the entire country.

 

Prof. Gwarzo appreciated the management of the agency for its commitment to improve quality of care in the private health facilities across the state and thanked them for the visit.

 

During the visit, the Director General was accompanied by other top management of the agency including Director, Admin and General Services, Bashir Gambo Ibrahim,
