During his valedictory address, he shared a powerful message: “No matter your current circumstances or the challenges of your environment, there will always be moments when a helping hand is extended. Seize those opportunities,” he urged.

Graduating from Walter L. Cohen High School with an impressive 3.89 GPA, he reflected on his journey: “I encountered numerous challenges, yet I met them with determination.”

He carried the memory of his mother, who passed away when he was just eight, and expressed gratitude to the Covenant House in his speech. He also thanked distant family members for their unwavering support.

The Covenant House, which offers shelter to homeless youth, recognized his brilliance from the start. His case worker and the organization’s staff were well aware of his potential.

Embracing his hardships, he knew that his accomplishments would not only uplift his siblings but also serve as inspiration for other young people in similar predicaments.

His advice to others is poignant: “Never let adversity defeat you. Refuse to be shackled by it. Instead, let these moments be stepping stones to overcome it.”
