Hon. Jafaru Ango Opens 2nd Rectors Cup and Sports Festival at Isa Mustapha Agwai 1 Polytechnic
Hon. Jafaru Ango attended the opening ceremony of the Rector's Cup at Isa Mustapha Agwai 1 Polytechnic, emphasizing the importance of sports in developing life skills and fostering unity among students.
The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Jafaru Ango, graced the opening ceremony of the 2nd edition of the Rector's Cup and Sports Festival at Isa Mustapha Agwai 1 Polytechnic (formerly Nasarawa State Polytechnic) on Wednesday.
In his address, Commissioner Jafaru expressed his honor at attending the inter-departmental sports competition, highlighting it as a celebration of teamwork, dedication, and fair play. He emphasized that sports extend beyond the outcomes of winning or losing, as they teach valuable life skills such as discipline, perseverance, and camaraderie.
"I am grateful to the Management and Staff of the Polytechnic, led by Acting Rector Dr. Nurudeen Mu'azu Maifata, for their tireless efforts in integrating education with sports to nurture young talents," Jafaru stated. He assured attendees of the Ministry's unwavering support for the competition and its commitment to creating an environment conducive for young talents to showcase their skills in alignment with Governor Abdullahi Sule's administration's blueprint for sports and youth development.

The Commissioner urged participants to utilize the competition as a platform for fostering friendship, unity, and a lasting passion for sports.
Earlier in the ceremony, Acting Rector Dr. Nurudeen Mu'azu Maifata remarked that the competition provides student-athletes an opportunity to display their skills, enabling the Polytechnic's technical team to identify exceptional talents for representation at the forthcoming Nigeria Polytechnic Games Association (NIPOGA) and other sporting events.

Dr. Maifata expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and Hon. Uthman Angbolo Ibrahim, the Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, for their presence at the event. He encouraged participants to take full advantage of the tournament to uncover their potential and contribute to the development of the Institution by adhering to established rules and regulations.
The Acting Rector commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his proactive efforts in transforming education and fostering sports and talent development within the state.
The ceremony was marked by the declaration of the competition's opening by Dr. Ahmed Ubangari, Director General of the Nasarawa State Market Management Bureau, with a ceremonial kick-off performed by Hon. Uthman Angbolo Ibrahim.

In the opening match, the School of Administration and Business Studies (SABS) triumphed over the School of Communication and Technology (SCT) with a score of 2-0 in the female football category at the Polytechnic pitch.
Notable attendees included Dr. Ahmed Jibrin, Deputy Rector of Administration; Dr. Louis John Ogah, Deputy Rector of Academics; Hajiya Zainab Dalhatu Aliyu, Bursar; Zamani Habu Ibrahim, Registrar; and Mukhtar Wakeel, Director of Information, Public Relations, and Protocols.
