Hon. Richard Osaseyi, a well-known philanthropist and General Manager of the Kogi State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KOSSAA), has awarded scholarships to eight first-class students of Federal University Lokoja (FUL) through his Non-Governmental Organization, the Osaseyi Foundation.
The scholarship award follows his earlier commitment to the university chapter of the National Association of Okun Students (NAOS), which he made during their Cultural Day celebration last week. Addressing the beneficiaries in his office on Thursday, Hon. Osaseyi commended the students for their exceptional academic performance, acknowledging their dedication and hard work.
“These scholarships are awarded to students with a CGPA of 4.5 and above, as a recognition and reward for their excellence,” he said. He further expressed that the initiative aims to encourage students to continue striving for academic success, noting that the scholarship scheme will soon be extended to other universities.
Reflecting on the motivation behind the gesture, Hon. Osaseyi shared, “I was invited to their event last week, and I asked for the names of students who had achieved a CGPA of 4.5 and above. About eight names came up, and we decided to grant them scholarships for 2023. This is our way of showing appreciation for their dedication and giving back to the society."
He encouraged the recipients to excel further in their academic journey and assured them that their progress and conduct would be closely monitored.
Mrs. Agnes Ekundayo, Matron of FUL NAOS, lauded Hon. Osaseyi for his continuous support to students of Okun origin, describing the initiative as a groundbreaking effort to empower the youth.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Dare Toluwani expressed gratitude to Hon. Osaseyi, calling him a “philanthropist par excellence” and praising his unwavering commitment to educational development.
This latest gesture from Hon. Osaseyi reinforces his dedication to fostering academic excellence and uplifting students from his community, with the scholarships serving as an inspiration to many.
