IBBUL partners HYPPADEC on Consultancy Services and Human Capital Development

The management of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University IBBUL has partnered Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) on Consultancy Services and Human Capital Development. 

The Managements of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai and Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) have agreed to partner on Consultancy Services and Human Capital Development. 

The understanding was reached when the Management team of the University, led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu paid a visit to the Commission at its headquarters in Minna.

Speaking, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu said that a lot of human capital development and consultancy services were needed from the Commission as part of its corporate social responsibility. 

He pointed out that also part of the relationship needed between the University and the Commission was in the   development of  Transport Management Department of the Institution.

Professor Adamu solicited for the support of HYPPADEC in the major challenges faced by the University's Schools of Preliminary Studies as it affects indigent students. 

He observed that taking the financial burden of indigent student would be a good development and a greater achievement by the Commission.

"Being recruited to read is better than being recruited to be informant to criminals", he added.

The Vice Chancellor stated that so far, the University has gone into partnership with organisations like the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Hydropolis and others where excellent results have been achieved.

Professor Adamu also disclosed that MBBS and Law would soon commence in the University, with structures already on ground.

He congratulated the Managing Director on his appointment and expressed the hope that his leadership would strengthen the relationship between the two organisations. 

Responding, the Managing Director of HYPPADEC, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa said the Commission was ready to relate with the University, especially in the capacity training of students drawn from its catchment  areas, including its staff.

He hinted that the Human Resources Department of the Commission would liaise with the University on the matter.

Alhaji Yelwa disclosed that last year, the Commission supported some Higher Institutions base in their needs as part of 'School Support Programme'.

Speaking further on Consultancy, the Managing Director stated that the Commission would do everything within it limited resources to engage the University, adding the University's closeness to the Commission makes it a reliable partner.

The Managing Director suggested a round table discussion between the Commission and the University to discuss the master plan of issues of riverine communities with a view to finding solutions to them.

He appreciated the University Management for the visit and  promised to work for the upliftment of the standard of living of the affected people.

Highlights of the visit included exchange of gifts by the two organisations.
