IBBUL VC Welcomes Private Sector Participation in Hostel Accommodation

The Vice Chancellor of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), Professor Muhammad Hadi Sulaiman, has expressed the institution's readiness to partner with the private sector in addressing the growing accommodation challenges faced by students through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.

The university received a proposal for the construction of a 1,300-bed space hostel for male and female students, which would be modern, solar-powered, and sustainable. The project, proposed by Wakil Consult Limited, would be developed under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, easing the financial burden on the university while ensuring student safety and comfort.

The proposed hostel would include recreational facilities such as table tennis courts and internet connectivity, with a focus on aesthetics, functionality, and durability. The design would accommodate kitchens, laundry areas, porters' lodges, and security posts, with a strong emphasis on renewable energy and sustainability.

The Vice Chancellor commended the initiative, stating that the university welcomes genuine partnerships that solve practical problems like accommodation. The project would curb the risks associated with off-campus housing and provide students with a safe and comfortable living environment.

The university's management team, including the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, University Librarian, and Registrar, expressed their commitment to collaborating with the private sector to ensure the success of the project. The partnership aims to enhance academic life and infrastructure development at IBBUL.
