International College of Dentists confers Honorary Fellowship on ABU Vice-Chancellor

The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, was today in Ibadan conferred with the prestigious award of Honorary Fellowship of the International College of Dentists (ICD). 

Prof Ahmed was honoured in recognition of ABU's outstanding support for the growth of dentistry at the institution's Faculty of Dentistry.

It was also in appreciation of Prof Ahmed's dedication to dental education and unwavering commitment to improving healthcare standards in Nigeria.

The award presentation was part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the University of Ibadan Dental School held at Ogunlesi Multi-Purpose Hall, University College Hospital, Ibadan on Monday, 22nd September, 2025. 

The President of the International College of Dentists (ICD), Dr Ian Doyle, conferred the award on the Vice-Chancellor amidst a gathering of distinguished guests and academics committed to advancing the dentistry field. 

The event not only celebrated individual achievements but also highlighted the continued growth and significance of dental education globally.

The Provost, College of Medical Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof M S Shehu, was at the event to celebrate the feat. 

Others present at the memorable occasion were the Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, Prof Sunday Olusegun Ajike; and Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Sani Ibrahim Kaita.
