Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic (IMAP), Lafia, has been hailed as the most media-friendly and effective academic institution in information management and communication within Nasarawa State. This recognition was made by Hon. Peter Ahemba, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Nasarawa State on Public Affairs, during a courtesy visit to the Director of Information, Public Relations, and Protocol at the Polytechnic.

Hon. Ahemba praised the Polytechnic’s efforts in regaining its lost glory, attributing this success to the strategic leadership of the Acting Rector, Dr. Nurudeen Mu'azu Maifata. He highlighted that the institution’s image-making was instrumental in its progress and lauded the administration for aligning its policies with those of the Governor Abdullahi Sule-led government. He further commended Dr. Maifata’s administration for its commitment to maintaining high educational standards in the state.

The Senior Special Assistant also praised Mukhtar Wakeel, the Director of Information, for his professionalism, competence, and dedication to duty. He described Wakeel as an esteemed academic, veteran media consultant, and corporate administrator who has greatly contributed to the Polytechnic’s success.

In response, Wakeel thanked Hon. Ahemba for the recognition, emphasizing that his appointment was a reflection of his dedication and extensive experience in media management. He noted that Dr. Maifata’s leadership has been pivotal in uniting and advancing the Polytechnic, adding that the institution has ambitious plans to become one of the top five most competitive Polytechnics in Nigeria within the next three years. Wakeel also mentioned that IMAP is on the path to becoming a preferred destination for foreign students, with state-of-the-art facilities for science and engineering studies.

He concluded by highlighting the imminent commencement of the Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication, pending accreditation by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). He expressed gratitude for Hon. Ahemba’s visit and reassured that the administration under Dr. Maifata remains steadfast in ensuring the security, unity, and prosperity of the Polytechnic’s staff and students.
