JAMB Stands Firm on Resit Scores for Affected UTME Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed that only the results from the recent Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) resit will be valid for candidates who were affected by technical and human errors in the original examination.
According to JAMB's spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the board's decision to nullify the initial scores is aimed at maintaining the integrity and fairness of the admission process. "You can't have two results. One must be withdrawn – that means the old result has been withdrawn," he emphasized.
The resit, which was necessitated by widespread complaints from candidates and parents, has yielded more accurate results, with a significant improvement in performance. The board has released the updated scores, which show a higher number of students scoring above the 200 mark.
JAMB's decision underscores its commitment to upholding examination standards and ensuring that all candidates are assessed under uniform and credible conditions.
