"Judiciary is Cornerstone of Democracy" - BUK VC

The Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, has described the Judiciary as the cornerstone of sustainable democracy, emphasizing the need for its sanctity to be upheld and respected by all.

During a courtesy visit to the Chief Judge of Kano State, Honourable Justice Dije Abdu Aboki, Professor Abbas sympathized with her over the recent vandalism of the State High Court Complex by hoodlums during the End Bad Governance National Protest.

"The Management of Bayero University wishes to express its sincere gratitude for this meeting. We acknowledge the judiciary's pivotal role in upholding the rule of law, justice, and order in our society," said Professor Abbas.

He appealed to the Chief Judge to intervene in the ongoing land dispute involving the university, where land speculators have encroached on university land. Professor Abbas expressed frustration over individuals obtaining ex parte orders and continuing to use them even after they have lapsed.

The Vice Chancellor assured the Chief Judge that the university remains committed to upholding the rule of law and working with the judiciary to ensure justice is served. He emphasized that the university respects court orders and refrains from actions that would contravene them.

The courtesy visit was part of the university's efforts to strengthen its relationship with the judiciary and seek assistance in resolving the land dispute.
