Residents of Tukur-Tukur Community in Zaria, Kaduna State, are grappling with a serious health crisis as a suspected diphtheria outbreak threatens the area. Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, a community elder, has reported that several children have been hospitalized with symptoms indicative of diphtheria.
In a troubling development, five children have died within a span of less than 24 hours, with all showing symptoms consistent with the disease. Some of the affected children died at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Shika, while others passed away at home.
