Kaduna State Deputy Governor Hosts House of Representatives Committee on TETFund

The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, welcomed the House of Representatives Committee on Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and related services to Kaduna. The committee, led by Honourable Mariam Odinaka Onuoha, is focused on addressing challenges that tertiary institutions face in accessing critical intervention funds.
During the meeting, Honourable Odinaka highlighted a significant issue: over N500 billion in unaccessed funds at the Central Bank of Nigeria intended for tertiary institutions. She emphasized the need to address the stringent conditions that have hindered access to these funds and announced plans for a nationwide tour of educational institutions to identify and address barriers.
Odinaka specifically noted that institutions in Kaduna, including Kaduna State University (KASU), Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, and Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, collectively hold N1.3 billion in unaccessed funds. She assured that the committee is committed to ensuring these funds are disbursed to the institutions that need them.
Deputy Governor Balarabe expressed gratitude to the committee for their efforts to resolve these issues and encouraged heads of Kaduna’s tertiary institutions to openly communicate their challenges. She urged a collaborative approach to overcoming these obstacles.
Honourable Odinaka praised Senator Uba Sani’s administration for its focus on education and the welfare of the populace. She expressed the committee’s eagerness to work with local institutions to ensure the effective disbursement and utilization of available funds, aiming to enhance the academic landscape of the state.
