Kaduna State University Hosts Symposium on Antimicrobial Resistance

The Center for Biosecurity, Biosafety, Infectious Diseases, and One Health (CEBBIDOH) at Kaduna State University recently organized a symposium on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).

The event, held on December 17, 2024, brought together experts, health workers, policymakers, and researchers to discuss strategies to combat AMR.

The symposium featured keynote addresses, presentations, and a panel discussion. The Director-General/CEO of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Olajide Ojo, represented by Dr. Ige Oluwafemi, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the far-reaching effects of AMR.

Other speakers included Precious Ezinne Nebo, who discussed the science of AMR, and Dr. Levin Damisa, who emphasized the importance of human behavior in addressing AMR. Dr. Rolayo T. Emmanuel shed light on the global economic impact of AMR, stressing the need for collective action to prevent its spread.

 

The event was attended by experts from various fields, including healthcare, research, and policy. The symposium marked a productive and enlightening session aimed at addressing one of the most urgent health challenges of our time.
