Kaduna State University Not Listed on Students Loan Portal, Raising Concerns Among Prospective Beneficiaries

In a surprising development, Kaduna State University (KASU) has been reported missing from the recently launched national Students Loan Portal, causing concern and frustration among prospective beneficiaries who had hoped to access financial aid for their education. The omission was discovered shortly after the portal went live, leading to a flurry of inquiries and complaints from students and parents.

The exclusion of KASU from the Students Loan Portal has left many students and their families in a difficult position. Many had planned to rely on the loan program to cover their tuition and other educational expenses for the upcoming academic session.

"I was counting on the student loan to help me pay my fees this year. Finding out that KASU isn't listed on the portal is a huge setback for me and my family," said Ibrahim Musa, a prospective student who had applied to study Computer Science at KASU.

In response to the concerns, the Vice-Chancellor of KASU, Prof. Muhammad Tanko, addressed the issue in a press conference held at the university's main campus. Prof. Tanko assured students and parents that the university administration is taking immediate steps to resolve the matter.

"We are aware of the issue and understand the concerns of our students and their families. Our administration is in communication with the relevant authorities to ensure that KASU is included in the Students Loan Portal as soon as possible. We are committed to supporting our students in every way we can," Prof. Tanko stated.

Prof. Tanko mentioned that the university has already initiated discussions with the Ministry of Education and the management of the Students Loan Program to address the oversight. "We are confident that this issue will be resolved promptly. In the meantime, we advise our students to explore alternative funding options while we work on this matter," he added.

The national Students Loan Program was launched with the aim of providing financial support to students across Nigeria, enabling them to pursue higher education without the burden of financial constraints. The program offers low-interest loans to eligible students, covering tuition fees, books, and other educational expenses.

The exclusion of a prominent institution like KASU from the portal has raised questions about the implementation and inclusivity of the program. Education analysts have called for a thorough review to ensure that all accredited universities and their students can benefit from the initiative.
