Lagos Government Announces New Date for 2026 Public School Placement Test
The Lagos State Government has postponed the 2026 Placement Test for admission into public junior secondary schools from Saturday, July 25, to Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
Lagos State Government has rescheduled the 2026 Placement Test for public junior secondary school admission from July 25 to July 28 due to the monthly environmental sanitation exercise. Get the new date and details.
Placement test is an annual entrance examination conducted by the Lagos State Examinations Board for final-year primary school pupils seeking admission into public junior secondary schools across the state.
The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, through LSEB, announced the change in a statement posted on the state government’s official X handle on Tuesday.
The Registrar of the Board, Mr Adebayo Orunsolu, said the adjustment became necessary because the initial date coincides with the monthly environmental sanitation exercise observed on the last Saturday of every month across the state.
According to him, the restriction of movement during the sanitation exercise would affect candidates, parents, guardians and examination officials travelling to designated centres.
“The adjustment became necessary following the realisation that the earlier scheduled date coincides with the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise, which is observed on the last Saturday of every month across Lagos State,” Orunsolu said.

He added, “The restriction of movement during the sanitation exercise would significantly affect the smooth movement of candidates, parents, guardians, and examination personnel to designated examination centres across the State.”
Orunsolu said the board approved Tuesday, July 28, as the new date for the examination “in the interest of all stakeholders and to ensure the seamless conduct of the examination.”
He appealed to parents, guardians, school administrators and candidates to take note of the revised date and make the necessary adjustments.
The registrar assured stakeholders that adequate arrangements had been made for a successful exercise.
“Every necessary arrangement has been put in place to ensure the successful, transparent, and hitch-free conduct of the Placement Test,” he said.
While expressing regret over any inconvenience caused by the rescheduling, Orunsolu thanked stakeholders for their understanding, cooperation and continued support.
He added that the Lagos State Examinations Board remained committed to “upholding the highest standards of integrity, efficiency, and excellence in the administration of public examinations in the State.”
