Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has initiated the distribution of learning materials to schools across all 44 local government areas in the state. The flag-off ceremony took place at the Government House on Thursday evening, marking a significant step in the administration's efforts to revitalize the education sector.
The distributed materials include 120,000 cartons of chalk, 97,532 workbooks, 93,600 exercise books, 199,234 classroom registers, 350,000 report sheets, 351 lesson observation books, and national anthem books.
Governor Yusuf, in his address, emphasized his administration's dedication to improving the state's educational system, which has suffered from deteriorating infrastructure and a high number of out-of-school children under previous administrations. "This is the revival of the unfortunate state of the education sector in Kano State," he said, reaffirming his commitment to restoring the system to its former glory.
The governor also highlighted ongoing efforts, including teacher training and retraining, alongside the rehabilitation of schools and the construction of new classroom blocks to create a conducive learning environment for all students.
Commissioner of Education, Umar Haruna Doguwa, lauded the governor's unwavering support for the education sector, noting that the declaration of a state of emergency on education had led to tangible improvements. "The governor has kept his promise and delivered beyond expectations," Doguwa stated.
