KASU Alumna Dr. Saratu Mairabo Defies Age and Adversity to Achieve Her Medical Dream

In an inspiring story of determination and resilience, Dr. Saratu Mairabo has achieved a significant milestone, transitioning from a certified nurse to a medical doctor. Her journey is a testament to perseverance and unwavering dedication, especially in the challenging field of Medicine in Nigeria.
Dr. Mairabo and her former classmate both started their academic journey together at Kaduna State University (KASU) in 2015, after writing the JAMB exam. While her classmate resided in the main campus hostel during their 100 level, circumstances led them to become roommates in the Medicine hostel from 200 level through 300 level, before Dr. Mairabo moved to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital for her clinicals.
Her classmate graduated and even completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, but Dr. Mairabo’s medical journey continued, embodying the phrase “studying Medicine no be beans,” especially in Nigeria.
Dr. Saratu Mairabo’s determination to switch from nursing to studying Medicine underscores her deep passion for healthcare. She is not only a dedicated professional but also a loving wife, mother of two, and a cherished aunt to many. Her age may be a mystery to some, but her impact is undeniable.
