Keffi L.G. Chair Decries Non Utilisation  Of Pedestrian Bridge Along Fulafia Gate

The Executive Chairman of Keffi Local Government Council Honourable Muhammad Baba Shehu has decried the non utilisation of the pedestrian bridge constructed at the gate of the University to reduce the rate of students crossing the highway to curtail the rate of vehicular accidents recorded on the Keffi-Akwanga highway.

Honourable Baba Shehu bared his mind on Monday 20th May 2024 when he received the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman and Principal Officers of the University when they paid a courtesy call on him at the Local Government Secretariat.

The Local Government Chairman explained that arising from the incessant incidences of motor accidents involving students of the University as a result of the dualization of the highway, he had approached the construction company handling the dualization of the highway and requested for the overhead bridge which the company graciously constructed unfortunately students are not utilizing the bridge.

The Chairman while congratulating Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman on her appointment as the first indigenous Female Vice-Chancellor of NSUK asked her to build on the success of her predecessor Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed. He also assured  that the Local Government will support the University in all its developmental endeavours.

Speaking earlier, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman stated that they were at the Secretariat to seek for collaboration and solicit the continuous support of the Local Government in the area of security within and outside the University and also in the areas of infrastructural development research and Public Private Partnership PPP.

Professor Sa'adatu while thanking the Local Government for fencing the Angwan Lambu Police Station, requested the Local Government Chairman's intervention to prevent the activities of trespassers who have encroached on University land by fencing the land that belongs to the University.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a customised congratulatory card and kolanuts to the Vice-Chancellor by the Local Government Chairman.
