Elizade University appoints Professor Kayode Thadius Ijadunola, a distinguished Professor of Medicine, as its fourth substantive Vice-Chancellor, effective February 1st, 2024, recognizing his extensive contributions to research and service in Nigeria's healthcare and education sectors.

Elizade University, located in Ilara Mokin, Ondo State, has officially named Professor Kayode Thadius Ijadunola, a distinguished Professor of Medicine, as its fourth substantive Vice-Chancellor, effective from February 1st, 2024, according to a statement issued by the Institution’s Registrar, Omololu Adegbenro, and signed by Elizade's Head of Public Relations, Williams Olufunmi.

The announcement comes as the university's Board of Trustees, based on the Governing Council's recommendation, approved the appointment of Professor Ijadunola, recognizing his significant contributions to research and service in Nigeria, particularly in the field of Population and Reproductive Health Training.

The statement highlighted Professor Ijadunola's extensive national and international experience, spanning over 25 years, encompassing roles as a University Professor, Research Advisor, Practicing Physician, Project Director, and Multidisciplinary Consultant. Prior to his new role, he held the position of Professor of Public Health and Community Medicine at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

Born in 1965, Professor Kayode Ijadunola has earned acclaim as a distinguished Scholar and accomplished Physician, receiving numerous prestigious scholarships, fellowships, and research grants from renowned institutions such as Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, Harvard University Chan School of Public Health, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, among others.

His notable achievements include pioneering the first-ever Nigerian/West African taught course in Population and Reproductive Health Training. Over the years, he has served in various capacities, including Chair of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences Postgraduate Board, Director of the Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health, and Provost of the College of Health Sciences at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
