Kogi State House of Assembly Initiates Public Hearing on KASSEB Bill

The Kogi State House of Assembly has commenced a public hearing on the proposed bill to establish the Kogi State Senior Secondary Education Board (KASSEB). The Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), Dr. Iyela Ajayi, presented a submission elaborating on the NSSEC Act 2023 during the hearing.

Dr. Ajayi commended the Kogi State Government and the House of Assembly for their commitment to the KSSSEB Bill, considering it a significant step towards domesticating the Senior Secondary Education Act, 2023. The aim is to regulate and provide necessary interventions for secondary education in the state.

Alhaji Aliyu Umar Yusuf, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, commended Dr. Ajayi for being a good ambassador of the state. He assured that the observations and recommendations made by the NSSEC Executive Secretary would be duly considered to prevent conflicts between the state Ministry of Education, Science and Technical Education Board, Teaching Service Commission, and the proposed KSSSEB once the bill is enacted into law.

Mr. Wemi Jones, former Commissioner of Education of Kogi State, also expressed support for the domestication of the NSSEC Act 2023. He acknowledged it as a positive development that will further enhance the senior secondary school sub-sector in Kogi State, showcasing the state government's ongoing efforts to elevate education in the region.
