Kwara Police Commissioner Visits Family of Murdered Polytechnic Student, Assures Justice
The IGP has ordered the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) to take over the investigation, with all involved officers being transferred to Abuja for a comprehensive inquiry
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, visited the family of Abdulqoyyum Ishola, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic who was murdered by a police officer in Ilorin last week. The visit, conducted on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, took place on Tuesday.
During the visit, Olaiya conveyed the IGP’s assurance that justice will be served in the case, according to a statement by the state police command spokesperson, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun. The IGP has ordered the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) to take over the investigation, with all involved officers being transferred to Abuja for a comprehensive inquiry.
Abdulqoyyum’s parents, Mr. Muselim and Mrs. Ramat Abdulyekeen, expressed their gratitude to the police for their support and reiterated their hope for a fair investigation that would bring justice for their son.
Alhaji Mohamed Kewugbemi, the family’s clergy, offered prayers and commended the police for their efforts in ensuring justice, while Alhaji Erolalujana, the family head, expressed appreciation for the police’s support during this difficult period.
Also present at the visit was the Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, who showed solidarity with the family.
Commissioner Olaiya assured the family that the police command is fully committed to ensuring transparency and justice throughout the investigation.
