The Commissioner of Police for Kwara State, CP Victor Olaiya, visited the family of Quoyum Ishola, a Kwara State Polytechnic student who was tragically killed last Wednesday. Leading the condolence visit on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, CP Olaiya met with the bereaved family at their residence in Alagbon, Oke Andi, Ilorin.

In a statement issued by Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, DSP and Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara Command, CP Olaiya expressed his gratitude to the family for their cooperation throughout the investigation. The statement emphasized the IGP’s commitment to justice, announcing that the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) has been directed to oversee the case. All officers involved in the investigation have been transferred to ensure a thorough and impartial inquiry.

Mr. Muselim Abdulyekeen and Mrs. Ramat Abdulyekeen, the parents of the deceased, expressed their appreciation for the support of the Inspector General of Police and the Kwara State Police Command. They remain hopeful that the ongoing investigation will bring justice for their late child. Family clergy, Alhaji Mohamed Kewugbemi, offered prayers and commended the police for their dedication to justice, while Alhaji Erolalujana (Olori-Ebi) conveyed his gratitude for the police's support during this difficult period.

Engr. Abdul-Jimoh Mohammed, Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, also joined the Police team to show solidarity with the family.

The statement concluded with a reaffirmation from CP Olaiya that the Kwara State Police Command is fully committed to ensuring justice and transparency in this case.

The tragic incident occurred last Wednesday when a team of policemen, conducting a stop-and-search operation in the Fate area of Ilorin, allegedly shot and killed Quoyum Ishola, an ND 2 Electrical Electronics Engineering student at Kwara State Polytechnic.
