KWASSIP General Manager Applauds Unilorin VC and Kwara Governor for Youth Entrepreneurship Support

The General Manager of the Kwara Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP), Dr. Abdulwasiu Olayinka Tejidini, has lauded the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN), and Kwara State Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for their commitment to fostering youth entrepreneurship through the establishment of dedicated units aimed at supporting students and young people.

In a recent interview with the UNILORIN Bulletin, Dr. Tejudini highlighted the UNILORIN Technical Entrepreneurship Centre as a significant initiative that enriches the academic experience of university students by diversifying their skill sets. He explained that KWASSIP, which has the backing of the State House of Assembly, focuses on three main objectives: poverty reduction, assistance for youth entrepreneurs, and the promotion of economic sustainability through local content development.

As a lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of Ilorin, Dr. Tejudini shared that the KWASSIP initiative has positively impacted numerous students from both the University of Ilorin and other institutions in Kwara State. He reported that in the previous year, over 12,000 applicants participated in the program, with 367 receiving funding. Notably, the top five recipients were awarded N6 million each, while others benefited from substantial, interest-free revolving loans.

Dr. Tejudini urged young people to look up to Governor AbdulRazaq and Prof. Egbewole as exemplars of success, encouraging them to emulate their dedication and hard work. He emphasized that KWASSIP remains apolitical and is focused solely on empowering residents of Kwara State.
