The Governing Council of Kwara State University has approved the promotion of 45 academic staff to the professorial cadre, with the decision ratified at its 78th Regular Meeting held on April 1, 2026.

The Governing Council of Kwara State University has approved the promotion of 45 academic staff to the professorial cadre, with the decision ratified at its 78th Regular Meeting held on April 1, 2026.

Of the total, 20 academics were elevated to the rank of full professor, while 25 others attained associate professorship across various faculties in the institution.

The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences produced one professor, Henry Olawale Sawyerr, a specialist in Environmental Health Toxicology and Risk Management. In the Faculty of Agriculture, three staff members were elevated: Olayinka Jelil Yusuf (Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology), Kayode Ayantoye (Agricultural Development and Policy), and Isaac Ade Afe (Agronomy).

Four professors emerged from the Faculty of Arts: Tajudeen Yusuf (Arabic Linguistics), Saeedat Bolajoko Aliyu (Environment and Gender in African Studies), Reuben Kehinde Akano (African Literature and Cultural Studies), and Ayoola Oladunke Aransi (Yoruba Literature, Cultural and Gender Studies).

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology recorded the highest number of new professors, with six promotions. They include Sikiru Ottan Abdulrahman (Materials Development, Mining Operations, Machineries, Corrosion Phenomena), Kabiru Mustapha (Sustainable Composite Materials Development and Characterisation), Fadeyibi Adeshina (Post-Harvest Technology and Food Engineering), Adeniyi Ganiyu Adeogun (Water Resources and Environmental Engineering), Samson Odeyemi (Structural and Materials Engineering), and Lambe Mutalub Adesina (Electrical Power Systems, Control and Renewable Energy).

In the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Shehu Usman Adam (Environmental Economics) and Zekeri Abu (Entrepreneurial Marketing and International Business) were promoted to full professorship.

The Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences produced four professors: Adeyinka Elizabeth Ajiboye and Majekodunmi Rachael Adedayo, both specialists in Food and Industrial Microbiology; Lukman Bola Abdulrauf (Analytical and Environmental Chemistry); and Jimoh Ajadi (Mineral Exploration and Geochemistry).

The newly promoted associate professors span multiple faculties. In the Faculty of Agriculture, Wasiu Awoyale (Food Processing and Storage Technology) was elevated. The Faculty of Arts produced five associate professors, including Hakeem Olawale (Yoruba Literature and Cultural Studies), Michael Olanrewaju Agboola (Drama: Theory and Criticism), Bamidele Olusegun Fawenu (Old Testament Interpretation and Eco-theology), Adesina Abiodun Olubitan (African Christian Theology and Interaction of Religions), and Peter Olanrewaju Awojobi (Biblical Studies and African Christianity).

From the Faculty of Education, Adedayo Adesokan (Learning Disability) and Joshua Sule Mamman (Accounting Education) were promoted, while in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Morakinyo Wasiu Kareem (Renewable Energy/Fluid Engineering) and Mutiu Akinpelu (Structural and Materials Engineering) attained associate professorship.

In the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, the promotions include Jumoke Falilat Ajao (Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence), Abdulsalam Olaniyi Sulaiman (Data Mining and Artificial Intelligence), and Akinbowale Nathaniel Babatunde (Artificial Intelligence and Information Security).

The Faculty of Management and Social Sciences recorded several elevations to associate professorship, including Nurudeen Bello Ahmed (General Management), Ismaila Yusuf (Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship), Lukman Adebayo-Oke Abdulrauf (Corporate and Development Finance), Ahmed Oluwatobi Adekunle (Energy and International Finance), and Musa Ilias Biala (Environment, Energy and Behavioural Economics).

From the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, the newly promoted associate professors include Damilola Temitope Ogundele (Analytical and Environmental Chemistry), Wahab Adesina Osunniran (Inorganic and Bio-inorganic Chemistry), Gabriel Babatunde Egbeyale (Numerical Analysis), and Risqot Ibrahim-Garba (Algebra and its Applications). Others are Mutiu Adewumi Alabi (Molecular and Biomedical Sciences), Raliat Abimbola Aladodo (Natural Product Pharmacology, Toxicology and Molecular Modelling), and Abdulhakeem Olanrewaju Sulyman (Enzymology, Protein Biochemistry, Drug Discovery and Computational Enzyme Inhibitor Design).
