KWASU SUG POLLS: Kolapo Emerges President-Elect

Abdulkadir Soliu Kolapo a 300-level student of the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Information and Communication Technology has been declared winner and President-elect at the just concluded elections into the Students Union of Kwara State University, Malete.

The election, which was conducted virtually on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, recorded a large number of votes cast.

Senator Abdulkadir Soliu Kolapo, who was unopposed, polled a total of 2416 votes.

In the Vice Presidential vite count, Olarewaju Victoria Oluwabukola polled 1963 votes to defeat Adetayo Omotolani Adedoyin, who polled 1362 votes.

Other elected members of the students' Union executive include: Adesola Kolade Hammed, General Secretary; Abolarin Maria Aderonke, Assistant General Secretary; Adamoh Basmallah Aduke, Financial Secretary; Lawal Shukroh Ajoke, Public Relations Officer; Adebisi Nafisat Opeyemi, Auditor; and, Amuda Ibrahim Olamide, Social Director I.

Others are Akinmboni Olamide Marcus, Social Director II; Zayath Fawaz Omogbolahan, Sport Director; Abdulsalam Abdulbasheet Omotolani, Welfare Director; and, Adeyiola Adam Babatunde, who emerged as the Treasurer.

The election, which was monitored by staff and students of the institution, was considered free and fair.

The result was announced by the Students' Electoral Committee chaired by Taiye Olalekan Oyeniyi.
