Lagos College Student Shines in Robotics Competition

Miss Aduragbemi Sanyaolu, a senior student from Starfield College, Lagos, has achieved an impressive feat by securing the first runner-up position in a Robotics competition. Sanyaolu chose to tackle the growing problem of bullying among secondary school students.Her project highlighted the psychological effects of bullying,such as fear and loss of concentration,while advocating for victims to seek help and justice.

 Miss Aduragbemi Sanyaolu, a senior student from Starfield College, Lagos, has achieved an impressive feat by securing the first runner-up position in the ITGEN Robotics Competition for senior secondary school students held over the weekend.

The competition, featured finalists from various schools, including representatives from Starfield College, Honeyland College (Baruwa Campus), Viscum College, Chessington College, Joen College, and Riverside College.

The challenge tasked the six contestants with building a robot within a 40-minute timeframe,designed to address a pressing societal issue. The judges evaluated the projects based on problem identification and the effectiveness of the proposed solutions.

The top prize was awarded to Ugbaji Testimony from Honeyland School, Baruwa Campus, who received a cheque for N200,000. Sanyaolu, the first runner-up, won a bedside fridge, while the second runner-up, Stephanie Humphrey from Viscum College, received a rechargeable fan.

The ITGEN Robotics training programs aim to ignite students’ interest in technology and engineering, offering a curriculum that spans basic mechanics to advanced programming. ITGEN also hosts various national competitions to foster creativity and skill-building across different educational levels.

Starfield College's senior school principal,Mrs.Sarah Oyinloye,presented the prizes on Monday.She commended Sanyaolu's exceptional achievement and dedication,acknowledging her late-night efforts and constant collaboration with her Robotics teacher.Mrs.Oyinloye emphasized that every student possesses unique talents,and with proper nurturing,these talents can lead to significant accomplishments.
