LASU Adopts Old National Anthem "Nigeria, We Hail Thee" for Official Events

LASU's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has directed the immediate adoption of the old national anthem, "Nigeria, we hail thee," for all university official functions and events following its restoration by the President of Nigeria.

 In response to the recent enactment of the National Anthem Bill 2024 by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, has directed the immediate adoption of the old national anthem, "Nigeria, we hail thee," at all university official functions and events.

The decision comes following the official restoration of the old national anthem, signifying a return to a cherished symbol of Nigeria's heritage and unity.
