Lagos State University (LASU) has once again asserted its academic prowess as one of its distinguished graduates, Peter Osagie Ifagbuyi, emerged as the winner of a prestigious competition, bagging a significant cash prize of N1 million. The competition, a Chemistry oral/verbal quiz, was organized by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the Iyana Ipaja orientation camp in Lagos.

The event, held on November 10, 2023, was a highlight of the ongoing NYSC orientation camp, which kicked off on November 1 and is scheduled to conclude on November 21, 2023. Among the participants, representing various institutions, were contenders from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and the University of Ilorin (UNIILORIN), securing second and third positions with cash prizes of N500,000 and N250,000, respectively.

Peter Osagie Ifagbuyi, a 2022 graduate from LASU's Faculty of Science, majored in Chemistry. His outstanding performance in the Chemistry quiz set him apart from nine other contestants, showcasing his expertise in both the initial and final rounds of the competition.

Before reaching the final stages, Ifagbuyi, identified by the number LA/23c/1422, successfully navigated through an online screening process. In the final round, he competed against representatives from nine different platoons, ultimately claiming victory in the inaugural chemistry contest supported by VSP Botanics.

As a deserving winner, Ifagbuyi was awarded a cash prize of N1 million, underscoring his academic excellence. He had previously graduated from LASU with a Second Class Upper grade from the Department of Chemistry, further affirming his commitment to scholarly pursuits.

The second and third place winners, Jolaolu Balogun (LA/23c/3690), a Pharmacy graduate from UNILAG, and Bethrandi Chukwudi (LA/23c/4637), a Medicine graduate from UNILORIN, were also recognized for their achievements with cash prizes of N500,000 and N250,000, respectively.
