LASU Prepares for 27th Convocation Ceremony: Here's What You Need to Know
Lagos State University (LASU) has announced its schedule for the upcoming 27th Convocation Ceremony, spanning from May 30th to June 6th, 2024.
Lagos State University (LASU) is gearing up for its 27th Convocation Ceremony, set to take place from Thursday, May 30th to Thursday, June 6th, 2024. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, has released the programme of events, including pre-convocation activities and guidelines for graduands.
The pre-convocation events kick off with a Convocation Press Conference on Thursday, May 30th, followed by a Sports Competition for Staff later that day. The programme also includes a Special Jumat Service, a Thanksgiving Service, Coconut Breaking and Cultural Festival, Convocation Lecture, and finally, the Award of Diplomas, Degrees, and Postgraduate Degrees.
Graduands are reminded to pay for their convocation package and return their academic gowns by Friday, June 7th, to avoid penalties. Failure to return gowns on time will result in fines, and any lost or damaged gowns will incur replacement fees.
During the ceremony, first-degree graduands will move their tassels from right to left, symbolizing their admission into the body of LASU graduates. Higher degree recipients will wear their caps with the tassels on the left side. Proper attire and conduct are emphasized, with guidelines provided for wearing caps and interacting with dignitaries.

Graduands and guests are urged to arrive early, adhere to seating arrangements, and refrain from unauthorized movements or photography during the ceremony. The Vice Chancellor extends congratulations to all graduands, stakeholders, and the university community, marking the occasion as a significant milestone for LASU.
The 27th Convocation Ceremony underscores LASU's commitment to celebrating academic achievement and fostering a culture of excellence among its graduates.
