LASU VC Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello Meets With 35th LASUSU Leaders, Allays Fears of School Fees Increment,Lagos State University Students' Union (LASUSU) Executive Council to a meeting with the university management, headed by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello.

On Monday, 13th January 2025, the Acting Dean of the Students Affairs Division, Dr Abiodun Fatai-Abatan, led the leadership of the 35th Lagos State University Students' Union (LASUSU) Executive Council to a meeting with the university management, headed by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM.

Held at the Vice-Chancellor's Conference Room on the 6th floor of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, the meeting marked the first official engagement between the university management and the student leaders since the latter's inauguration in December 2024.

During the meeting, the student leaders expressed their appreciation for the Vice-Chancellor’s responsive leadership and presented several requests on behalf of the student body. In response, the Vice-Chancellor engaged the students in a constructive dialogue, addressing their concerns and urging them to take full advantage of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). She emphasised that all students whose applications had been approved should proceed with registration for the new academic session, as the university has already received their payments.

 She also encouraged students who had yet to apply for the scheme to do so, highlighting it as their right as Nigerian students.

Additionally, Prof. Olatunji-Bello assured the students that despite Lagos State University being one of the least expensive universities in the country, her administration has no immediate plans to increase tuition fees.

However, she urged students to support the university by ensuring timely payment of their fees.

The Vice-Chancellor also called on the student leaders to remain steadfast in resisting any external influences that could disrupt the university's peaceful environment.

The meeting was attended by other members of the university management and staff.
