Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), has extended heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Oladapo John Obafunwa on his recent appointment as the Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR). The announcement was made by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Prof. Obafunwa, who previously served as LASU's Vice Chancellor from 2011 to 2015, succeeds in his new role following a distinguished career in medical research and administration. His tenure at LASU also included roles as Provost of the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) and Chief Medical Examiner for Lagos State.
Prof. Olatunji-Bello praised Prof. Obafunwa's extensive experience and qualifications, expressing confidence that he will significantly advance NIMR's mission to lead research in public health and improve the dissemination of vital research findings.
