LASUED VC Hosts Al-Meenat Women Organization, Pledges Support for Women Empowerment

The Management of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), led by Vice Chancellor Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, received a delegation from the Al-Meenat Women Organization on Thursday, 2nd October 2025, at the Multimedia Complex Room of the Vice Chancellor’s Office.

The Management of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), led by Vice Chancellor Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, received a delegation from the Al-Meenat Women Organization on Thursday, 2nd October 2025, at the Multimedia Complex Room of the Vice Chancellor’s Office.

In her welcome address, Professor Lafiaji-Okuneye provided a brief history of LASUED, tracing its transformation from Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED) and Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED) into its current status. She encouraged members of the organization to pursue their careers without limitations, emphasizing that gender should never restrict ambition or achievement.

The President of Al-Meenat Women Organization, Jelilat Abdul Hamid, explained the organization’s mission to empower the girl child and women across Nigeria, noting its presence in 18 states. She highlighted an upcoming conference aimed at discussing personal development, career growth, and strategic advancement for women, and requested the Vice Chancellor’s support in achieving the organization’s development goals.

The delegation formally invited Professor Lafiaji-Okuneye to their 30th Anniversary Celebration on 1st November 2025, where she is expected to deliver a motivational address.

Other notable attendees included: Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor M.A. Daodu; Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Shittu M.A.; Registrar, Mr. Akinfemiwa Opeoluwa; Bursar, Mr. Ganiu Ajose Adeniyi; and Deputy Registrar, Vice Chancellor’s Office, Mrs. Sami Omolara, among others.
