LAUTECH Honors Former CMD, Professor Opadijo, with Valedictory Lecture

The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso recently organized a valedictory lecture to pay homage to the immediate past Chief Medical Director (CMD) of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Professor George Opadijo, on his retirement from the Department of Internal Medicine.

Professor Philip Kolo, a renowned professor of medicine and consultant physician and cardiologist, delivered the lecture, highlighting cardiovascular diseases as a significant global health concern affecting the heart and blood vessels. These diseases, he emphasized, continue to be a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. Traditional risk factors, including age, high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, and obesity, contribute to cardiovascular events.

In his remarks, Professor Opadijo expressed gratitude to the Internal Medicine Department and attendees, emphasizing that although he may be retiring from formal service, he remains committed to giving back to his community.
