In a remarkable display of commitment to accessible education, Lead City University in Ibadan has extended its generosity to 905 students through its scholarship programs, disbursing a total value of N322,606,250.00. The scholarships, awarded for the 2022/2023 academic session, encompass tuition-free assistance for 840 students and complimentary accommodation for 65 others.
Prof. Kabiru Aderemi Adeyemo, the Vice Chancellor of Lead City University, made this revelation during a media parley focused on the institution's post-16 convocation. The scholarships, a testament to the university's dedication to providing financial assistance to deserving students facing economic challenges, reflect its commitment to fostering educational opportunities for all.
Adeyemo, who also announced the extension of his tenure by another five years, highlighted the university's dedication to various scholarship programs. These programs, designed to address financial barriers to education, are awarded based on academic merit, financial need, and specific criteria set by the university.
During the media session, Prof Adeyemo emphasized the university's collaboration with local organizations, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations to identify students requiring financial support. He expressed the institution's commitment to making education more accessible by providing flexible payment options and reduced fees for economically disadvantaged students.
