MAAUN Founder Leads Delegation to 2024 IAU Conference in Japan
Founded under UNESCO in 1950, the IAU brings together over 600 higher education institutions from more than 120 countries.
Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, President of MAAUN Group of Universities, led a delegation to the 2024 International Association of Universities (IAU) Conference held from November 22 to 24 at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan.
The three-day event, exclusively for IAU members and higher education leaders, served as a global platform for networking and sharing ideas on the future of higher education. Prof. Gwarzo was accompanied by key MAAUN management members, including Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, Vice President MAAUN Nigeria, Dr. Shu’aibu Usman Tanko, Vice President MAAUN Niger Republic, Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Haruna, Director of the Institute of Africa Higher Education Research and Innovation (IAHERI), and Prof. Muhammad Rayyan Garba, Dean of the Medical College, MAAUN Niger Republic.

IAU President Andrew Deeks and Sophia University President Yoshiaki Terumichi emphasized the importance of global interconnectedness and partnership building in tackling contemporary issues.
