Madonna University has initiated discussions aimed at strengthening its postgraduate education through a proposed academic collaboration with Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

The proposal was presented during a courtesy visit by officials of Madonna University to the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, on April 23, 2026.

Speaking during the meeting, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Madonna University, Charles Chijioke Ntamere, said the institution was interested in establishing a collaborative framework with UNIZIK in postgraduate teaching, research, and academic development.

According to him, the proposed partnership would improve academic quality, strengthen institutional capacity, and expand opportunities for advanced research training. He also appealed for support through the provision of adjunct lecturers to bolster the university’s postgraduate programmes.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, acknowledged the request and stressed that collaborations of such magnitude must comply with established institutional and regulatory procedures.

He explained that any formal approval would depend on Madonna University satisfying the necessary academic and administrative requirements outlined by the university and relevant education authorities.

Also present at the meeting were the Associate Dean of Postgraduate Studies at Madonna University, Nkechi Ezenwamma; the Provost of the College of Postgraduate Studies, UNIZIK, Emmanuel Chukwudebere Obidimma; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Hilda Osisioma; and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Alex Asigbo.

If approved, the proposed Memorandum of Understanding is expected to deepen academic exchange, promote joint research initiatives, and strengthen postgraduate training between both institutions.
