In a bid to combat the looming threat of climate change and foster sustainable environmental practices, Maduka University has announced a pioneering initiative in partnership with Beneficial Waste, a leading social enterprise dedicated to waste management solutions.

The program, aptly titled the Maduka University Sustainability Program, seeks to empower the next generation of environmental stewards in Africa. Under this transformative initiative, first-year students of Maduka University will undertake a three-week internship as part of their General Studies Course on Environment Sustainability.

What sets this program apart is its innovative approach of situating Recycle Banks within Peace Mass Transit (PMT) Bus Parks nationwide. These Recycle Banks, established in collaboration with Beneficial Waste, will serve as hubs for educating commuters and local communities on the importance of sustainable waste management practices.

During their internship, students will actively engage with commuters, raising awareness about the detrimental effects of improper waste disposal practices such as littering and dumping in drainage channels. They will also provide practical demonstrations on waste segregation, encouraging individuals to separate recyclable materials such as PET bottles, cans, and paper.
