Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) post UTME screening for 2023/2024 session
The online registration for Maritime Academy of Nigeria Post-UTME screening exercise for admission into the various two (2) years (four semesters) National Diploma (ND) programmes for the 2023/2024 academic session will commence on 14th August 2023 and close on 13th October 2023, Myschoolnews report.
The following full time ND programmes are on offer:
1.Nautical Science
2.Marine Engineering
3.Electrical/Electronic Engineering
4.Maritime Transport and Business Studies
REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
1. ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES
Candidates who selected Maritime Academy of Nigeria as their First (1st) Choice Institution in the 2023 UTME and scored above the required cut-off mark as stated in (2) below are eligible for post-UTME registration.
2. UTME CUT-OFF MARKS
a. Nautical Science - 175
b. Marine Engineering -175
c. Electrical/Electronic Engineering -175
d. Maritime Transport and Business Studies - 160
3. MODES OF CORRESPONDENCE
Candidates seeking admission into the Maritime Academy of Nigeria must have a functional and accessible electronic mail (e-mail) address and mobile phone number for correspondence. Candidates are not required to present themselves physically except on invitation through the Website Publication and e-mail/text messages.
4.O-LEVEL SUBJECTS AND UTME SUBJECTS COMBINATION
A:ND Nautical Science
a)O/Level Subjects
Applicants must possess Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in O/Level subjects which must include:
- Mathematics
- English Language,
- Physics
- Geography, and
- Any other related science subjects obtained within the last five (5) years in NOT more than two sittings.
b) UTME Subject Combination:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Geography
- Physics
B: Marine Engineering and Electrical/Electronic Engineering
a) O/Level Subjects
Applicants must possess Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in O/Level subjects which must include:
- Mathematics
- English Language,
- Physics,
- Chemistry, and
- any other related science subjects obtained within the last five(5) years in NOT more than two sittings.
b) UTME Subject Combination:
o English Language
o Mathematics
o Chemistry
o Physics
C: Maritime Transport and Business Studies
a)O/Level Subjects:
Applicants Must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in O/Level subjects which must include:
- Mathematics,
- English Language,
- Economics,
- Any two (2) of Geography, Commerce, Government, Financial Accounting or Business Management obtained within the last five years in NOT more than two (2) sittings.
b) UTME Subject Combination:
-English Language
-Mathematics
-Economics
- Geography/Commerce/Government/Principle of Account,Business Management
4. PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL FITNESS
a. Physical Fitness.
Due to the peculiar requirements of the institution and the maritime industry as well as the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) as amended which mandates all seafarers to be physically and mentally fit to work in the maritime industry, all applicants are expected to be physically and mentally fit to be able to withstand the rigours/challenges of the cadetship training. Consequently, shortlisted candidates may be required to present themselves for physical and medical fitness test when invited.
b. Medical Form.
The candidate should print out the Medical Examination Form (Form M) from the application portal. This form should be duly completed and signed before uploading on the portal.
c. Medical Laboratory Test.
Candidates are expected to undergo the following medical Laboratory tests at any Government Hospital and upload the results on the application portal:
1.PCV
2.VDRL
3.HBV
4.HIV1/2
5.FASTING BLOOD SUGAR (FBS)
6.PT (Pregnancy Test for Females)
7.URINALYSIS
8.GENOTYPE
9.BLOOD GROUP
The Medical Laboratory test must be carried out within the period of the online registration.
Note: The results uploaded on the portal are subject to further confirmation when invited for screening/admitted.
5. MARITAL STATUS
Applicants must be single and shall remain single throughout the duration of the programme.
6. AGE LIMIT
Candidates applying for Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, and Electrical/Electronic Engineering must be between the ages of 16 and 21 as at 31st 16 and 25 as at 31st October 2023
7. APPLICATION PROCEDURE
The application Form is available online at www.maritimeacademy.gov.ng Eligible candidates should take the following steps to start the registration process:
a. Click on Admission - HND/ND Registration Portal
b. Login with UTME number as Username and Jamb Score as Password
c. Generate RRR
d. Select the Mode of Payment of your Choice
c. Proceed to the banks of your choice to make payment Via Remita Payment Platform or pay using the online Platform
d. Return to the Academy Portal to complete your Registration.
8. COMMENCEMENT/CLOSING DATES
Application portal opens on 14th August 2023 and closes on 13th October 2023.
