Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria Partners with NDLEA to Combat Drug Abuse

In a bid to promote a zero-tolerance policy on drug abuse, Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has expressed its willingness to partner with the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

This development was announced during a courtesy visit by MAAUN's President, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, to the office of the Kano State Commander of the NDLEA.¹

The proposed partnership aims to raise awareness among students and provide training for MAAUN staff on strategies for identifying drug addiction. Additionally, MAAUN has requested the NDLEA to provide drug detection equipment to support the fight against drug-related activities.

The NDLEA State Commander, Mr. Abubakar Idris Ahmad, commended MAAUN for its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on drug abuse and expressed the agency's readiness to collaborate with the university. The partnership will also involve relevant security agencies to enforce a zero-tolerance stance against drug abuse.

This initiative demonstrates MAAUN's dedication to promoting a safe and healthy environment for its students and the surrounding community.
