The College of Natural and Applied Sciences (COLNAS), McPherson University, has held its end-of-year party to mark the successful completion of the 2024/2025 academic session and to recognise staff members for outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the college.

The College of Natural and Applied Sciences (COLNAS), McPherson University, has held its end-of-year party to mark the successful completion of the 2024/2025 academic session and to recognise staff members for outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the college.

The event, which combined appreciation and reflection, brought together academic and non-academic staff of the college in celebration of achievements recorded during the session.

Speaking at the occasion, the Dean of COLNAS, Professor Victor Oyetayo, expressed gratitude to God for a successful academic year and commended members of staff for their dedication and sustained commitment throughout the session. He also acknowledged the Vice-Chancellor and the university management for their continuous support, noting that such backing has strengthened COLNAS’ standing within the university, particularly in the areas of research productivity and institutional governance.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, in his remarks, praised the college for its intellectual output and scholarly contributions, describing COLNAS as a critical pillar in advancing McPherson University’s vision as a 21st-century institution. He urged staff members to remain committed to excellence, integrity, and service in the pursuit of sustainable university growth and societal development.

Delivering a vote of thanks, Dr. Olubukola Agboola, one of the award recipients, said the recognition would serve as motivation for staff to deepen their commitment to quality research, dedicated service, and ethical conduct in the discharge of their duties to the university.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to six staff members in recognition of exceptional performance during the 2024/2025 academic session. The award recipients were:

  • Mrs. Abosede Odeniran – Best Technologist
  • Mrs. Abosede Adebisi – Long-Serving Administrative Officer
  • Mr. Oluwasegun Koleoso – Lecturer with the Highest Contribution to the College based on availability, readiness, and willingness to serve
  • Dr. Annabella Adewunmi – Best Lecturer, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
  • Dr. Olubukola Agboola – Academic Award for Highest Published Works
  • Dr. Olubukola Agboola – Academic Award for Highest Citations

The ceremony underscored the college’s commitment to recognising excellence and encouraging sustained academic and professional performance among its staff.
