Meet Linguist from Lead City University Who Won Prestigious DAAD Fellowship in Germany

A linguist with the department of Languages and Literature, Lead City University, Ibadan, Dr Esther Senayon, has won the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) Fellowship in Germany.

Dr Senayon utilised the fellowship between November 2023 and January 2024 at the Institute of African Studies and Egyptology, University of Cologne to revise and extend some aspects of her PhD thesis. The stay resulted in the completion of an article titled "Investigating Cultural Policing as a minority language maintenance strategy; insights from the Abureni people of South-southern Nigeria."

The paper is currently undergoing review by Language Matters, a journal published by Routledge Taylor & Francis in London and New York. This article is part of a book project, which she is currently working on, and, when completed, she hopes to submit to Oxford University Press for publication.
