Meet Professor Hadiza Usman Ma’aji, Northern Nigeria First Female Professor of Clinical Pharmacy

Professor Hadiza Usman Ma’aji has made history as the first female professor of Clinical Pharmacy from Northern Nigeria, a trailblazer in academia and healthcare.

She began her academic journey at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where she earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy. She later obtained a Master’s from the University of Ibadan and a Ph.D. from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Currently, she serves as Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Administration at ABU Zaria. Her research focuses on mental health care, drug information, and pharmacy education, with over 15 peer-reviewed publications to her name.

Professor Ma’aji has also held more than 11 leadership roles, known for her mentorship, dedication to student development, and contributions to pharmacy education.

She is married to Aliyu Ma’aji, the Ma’ajin Zazzau (Treasurer of Zaria Emirate), and they have four children.
