Minister of Information Inspects 12MW Hybrid Solar Plant at UNIMAID

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has visited the ongoing 12-megawatt hybrid solar project at the University of Maiduguri.

The project, implemented under the Rural Electrification Agency's Energising Education Programme, aims to improve power supply to federal universities and teaching hospitals across the country.

The Minister commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the project, which has significantly reduced the university's monthly energy expenses. The solar power facility has been supplying electricity to both the University of Maiduguri and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for over a year, enhancing research, teaching, and patient care.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for the initiative, noting that the project has greatly improved teaching, learning, research, and healthcare delivery at the institution and its teaching hospital. The Minister praised the University Management for its commitment to safeguarding and maintaining the facility.
