The Honourable Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman OON SAN, engaged in a meeting with the union leaders of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU). The purpose of this meeting was to address the grievances raised by the unions and prevent their planned strike.

Accompanied by the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Hon. Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, Permanent Secretary Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack OON MNI, and other directors, the closed-door deliberation proved fruitful. The Minister assured the union leaders that their request regarding withheld salaries had been escalated to the highest level of authority.

Additionally, the Minister informed them about the constitution of an Advisory Committee to address any other related issues. Despite expressing their displeasure, both NASU and SSANU decided to step down their intended strike, hopeful for a positive response from the Federal Government in the near future.
