MOAU Celebrates Law Graduate, Benedict Ater, as Overall Best at Nigerian Bar
The Vice-Chancellor, Reverend Father Moses Orshio Adasu University, Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar, has commended Benedict Ushahemba Ater, Esq., for emerging as an all-round best student at the September 2025 Call to Bar ceremony.
The Vice-Chancellor with a deep sense of joy and pride, gave the commendation during a reception organized in honour of the young lawyer which held at the College of Health Sciences Auditorium of the University.
Professor Alabar, congratulated the honouree for bringing pride to the University and urged other students to emulate his dedication to excellence.
The colourful event attracted members of the University Management Committee, Deans, Directors, staff and family members who turned out in large numbers to celebrate the remarkable academic achievement of the honouree. The gathering reflected the pride of the institution in producing graduates who excel at the highest professional levels.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Professor Paul Aondona Angahar, described the reception as a moment of collective celebration for the University community. He noted that Barrister Ater’s outstanding performance at the Nigerian Bar was not only a personal accomplishment but also a reflection of the quality of training offered by the University’s Faculty of Law.
Earlier, the Dean of Law, Professor Kwaghkehe Ierkwagh, presented a brief profile of the honouree, highlighting his academic journey and dedication to excellence. According to him, Barrister Ater distinguished himself throughout his studies demonstrating exceptional commitment to scholarship and professional discipline. He conclude by informing all present that Barrister Ater graduated with a First Class degree from the Faculty of Law.
Several goodwill messages were delivered by eminent scholars, including Professors Akaa Imbwaseh, Emmanuel Ayangarumun Kenen, the immediate past Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, as well as Professors John Samba and Mvendaga Jirbo. The speakers congratulated Barrister Ater for the remarkable feat and encouraged him to sustain the flag of the University by upholding the values of integrity, diligence and service to society.
Responding, Barrister Benedict Ushahemba Ater expressed deep appreciation to the University community for the honour accorded him. He thanked the management, lecturers and staff of the institution for their mentorship and support during his academic journey and assured that he would continue to be a worthy ambassador of the University.
