Comrade Imrana Yusuf, the Secretary of NANS in Nasarawa State, disclosed this on Thursday. He urged students to remain calm, noting that aspirants have signed an agreement with the university’s management to form a committee to resolve the matter amicably. Yusuf expressed disappointment over the tampering of the election process in the two faculties, despite the level-playing field provided by the Professor Sa’adatu-led management to ensure a free and credible election.

The unrest at the main campus, which led to the deployment of security operatives who fired teargas to disperse protesting students, was reportedly influenced by external forces, according to Yusuf. He vowed to resist the committee’s decision if it does not favor Nigerian students.

In response to the unrest, the university management has suspended the elections to allow tensions to subside and to prevent any potential breakdown of law and order on campus. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, announced the suspension during a meeting with the contending aspirants of the Students Union Government in the Senate Chamber.
